Inner Peace Through METAL (an early draft)

(as posted to mefi and the ultimate-metal.com forums ) Image and Posturing : As fan of Metal, I’d like to think that it can be (re)defined in terms that isolate it from the [at-worst bigoted , at best hetero-male-centric ] behaviors and ideas currently associated with it…. To give some impression of the stuff that’s out in the cultural void, but not yet represented by traditional (or even non-traditional) media, we look at the bowels of the internet and what it has spit out over the years.

A National Socialist Rejection of Black Metal

We would not go to this concert, we would only meet our comrade and go our way.My brethen and I arrived early at the concert and from our car we were able to observe the national socialist black metal crowd moving towards the concert hall.

…The vocalist/guitarist of the band Bathory admitted later on that he just wrote about Satan because he, being so young, didn’t have the experience all these other older bands had, enabling them to sing about being drunk, driving motorcycles and having sex with dozens of drunk sluts.

What does it mean to be Metal? (Re)(de)constructing a definition of Metalness. \m/

(as posted to MetaFi) Image and Posturing : As fan of Metal, I’d like to think that it can be (re)defined in terms that isolate it from the [at-worst bigoted , at best hetero-male-centric ] behaviors and ideas currently associated with it…. There are numerous stylistic variations on heavy metal’s core sound, but they’re all tied together by a reliance on loud, distorted guitars (usually playing repeated riffs) and simple, pounding rhythms.”

On Poop

At home, people talk about work lives, sex lives; but in Mongolia, we had whole soap-operas worth of material and drama pertaining to nothing more than diarrhea and its many relatives…. This extreme take on a traditionally sensitive subject (flexibility borne of necessity and increasing familiarity with said subject’s less desirable territories) exposes the opposite extreme in which we are perpetually trapped back in the 1st world.
